Un jour, Un sac
Published on: 2008-10-06Shopping

In 1998, the luxury leather goods and accessory designer François Rénier launched a completely new and original concept, uniting a paper handbag with leather handles. Customers were quickly captivated by this playful idea. In this way, the Un jour, Un sac brand was born, and its first boutique opened in 2003.

A wide range of combinations are possible, thanks to the variety of available shapes and materials. Handles are offered in crocodile, calfskin, cow leather, shagreen, goatskin and even PVC; the handbags are made of paper, but are also available in a wide range of fabrics or in leather. Several of these handbag models are reversible.
François Rénier is sometimes inspired by fashion when designing certain handbags, such as the glossy handbags which are currently in style.

However, for him it is essential to vary his creations without being too influenced by fashion trends which change from one season to another, in order to offer handbags that his customers can personalize and make their own. François Rénier and his team are never short of ideas, and regularly create new models between collections.
Above all, "Un jour, Un sac" brand customers appreciate the personalized nature of these handbags, as well the high-quality products that are available.
Indeed, quality is essential. All handbags are handcrafted in France, notably in a studio in the Somme that previously supplied the renowned Hermès fashion house.
As you can see, François Rénier combines tradition and modernity and is pleased to offer a gem of a handbag, an essential decorative accessory that goes well with any outfit.
You can create your own unique bag, entirely in your image, starting at approximately 100 (handles start at 35 and the bags start at 50).

So don't hesitate - stop by one of our Paris boutiques, one on Rue des Saussaies near Rue du Faubourg St-Honoré and the Elysée Palace, the other on Boulevard Raspail in a beautiful older building dating from 1913, with a facade that is a listed historical monument.
Un jour, Un sac also has a boutique in Aix-en-Provence.

Musée d'Orsay
Published on: 2008-10-06Museum

One of the most famous and popular museums in Paris, The Musée d'Orsay was originally built as a railway station. But eventually it was found to be too small to house the growing passenger trains. Thankfully for us, because the building is the perfect place to house these incredible works of art. The building itself is an art piece. The enormous clock, the glazed dome ceiling and great hall. It holds mainly Impressionism, Naturalism, Symbolism paintings, Art Nouveau works, sculptures of Auguste Rodin and Camille Claudel, etc. This museum surely offers you a relaxing time under the bright natural sunlight.

Principal artists and works:
Millet The Gleaners', Manet Olympia', Renoir Moulin de la Galette', Monet Saint Lazare', van Gogh Starry Night',' The Church in Auvers-sur-Oise', Gallé and Guimard's Art Nouveau works, Rodin, Claudel, Caillebotte, Cezanne, Degas, Gauguin etc.

Cinq Mars
Published on: 2008-09-26Restaurant

Cinq Mars is a bistro found on a quiet street near Saint Germain. You'll likely be charmed by the gray exterio0r and counter, as well as the wooden tables that give it something of a rustic feel, while still maintaining a sense of class.
The literal translation of the name would mean either The Fifth of March or Five Tuesdays ?! It may seem mysterious, but it actually originates from a small village called Cinq Mars le Pil from Touraine, an area famous for its old castles.
During our visit we tried the home-made foie gras and lentil salad for an appetizer, and had the tuna steak and grilled lamb as our entrée.
The entire menu gave the feeling that the simple food they served was made from fresh ingredients and put together with real care. Meanwhile, the relaxing environment will give you a warm feeling, like you are being treated to the home-cooking of someone's grandmother.
Coincidentally, very near the corner of the street the shop is on, Rue de Verneuille, and Rue des Saints Peres stands the house Serge Gainsbourg once lived in. The wall is completely covered in graffiti these days, but if you're a fan it's a great excuse to stretch your legs after the meal.

Au Bon Accueil
Published on: 2008-09-26Restaurant

If you face Rue de Montessuy from this restaurant and walk forward a bit, you will see the gigantic form of the Eiffel Tower overpowering you from between the Haussmann style buildings. Yes, this restaurant is located right by the Eiffel Tower, behind the Quai Branly Museum.
Perhaps it's because it's located in a neighborhood that is prominent even for Paris, or perhaps it's because the Eiffel Tower is so near, but when you look around the interior you will likely see many elegant, foreign customers here. It's a comfortable restaurant with extremely thorough service.
With this kind of location and service, it's really something to have a place where you can get a three course dinner for just 31 euros. For our review, we ordered the Sausage-Style Squid Marinade and the Duck Terrine appetizers, the Lamb Roast and Pork Galette entrees, and Strawberry Mont Blanc and Chocolate Cake desserts.
Instead of trying to win an award for originality, they really go for making classic French cuisine perfectly. For anyone who feels like, after all the effort they went to coming to France, they would like to eat some true French cooking, this is a chic address we absolutely recommend. Once you're in the area of the Eiffel Tower, definitely come on by.

Bellota
Published on: 2008-09-26Restaurant

Jamón ibérico (ibérico ham) is a cured ham from Spain often called the king of ham. Of all the ibérico hams, the highest quality is Bellota. In Spanish it means acorn , and it's made by pickling the meat of pigs raised eating only acorns, then drying and curing it for 30-42 months. Bellota Bellota is definitely a shop you'll want to visit in Paris to taste this ham. If you continue into the interior of the shop, past where the whole pigs are hung up, there's a small zone where you can get a meal. As you snack on some pickled olives or garlic, while perusing the menu, your eyes will likely be drawn to the meals your neighboring diners are eating. These are Bellota's volcano servings. Plates piled high with mountain-shaped heaps of thinly sliced ham will be laid out all around. Underneath it all is a lit candle, whose low temperature gently melts the fat in the meat and practically doubles the delicious flavor of it. For 38 euros you'll get a large enough quantity that it's just right for two people to share. And they have delicious tapas made from the freshest ingredients such as marinated green onions and red peppers. They're open all day long, so when your stomach's feeling empty, it's a convenient place to drop in for a short visit.

Les Cocottes de Christian Constant
Published on: 2008-09-26Restaurant

Les Cocottes just opened in June of 2007. It is the latest shop from Chef Christian Constant, who has four restaurants along rue Saint Dominique, such as Le Violon d'Ingres right next door. Much like the Japanese Onabe restaurants, the main dish served here is "staub , which is cooked in a pot, similar to a stew. Staub may not be as popular or well known as le creuset in Japan, but in France it is loved by chefs and amateur cooks looking for the real deal. Pig's feet stuffed with potatoes and cooked in calf's cream, sausages, and haddock roast garnished with white beans may not sound upper-class, but they are really good food. The flavor of the chocolate cake and crumble served for dessert is a clear winner, so you can eat them with absolute peace of mind. The long interior of the restaurant is by no means spacious, but the refreshingly modern design and the bright sunlight shining in through the ceiling window have made it into a really comfortable space. All the seating is on tall stools placed at the counter. Since they're open non-stop from morning to night it's a great place whenever you want to eat some quick and delicious food, even when you're eating alone.(2008-01-13)
